Wednesday started off pretty normal, I was making a pie with some apples I had, and working with my 14 week old puppy Summer.
I got a phone call from the post office saying that my birds were in, which I had figured that they would be there on Thursday, but ok.. so I put the puppy in the crate in the car, she doesn't like to ride real well, and I have been taking her with me everywhere. And off we go!
get to the PO, get my huge box of birds, and my eggs from jimnjay, and off we go to my neighbors house to put the birds up. I have rented out the barn next door, because I wanted to separate all the Silkies by color, and I don't have enough room at my house.
So there is a 2500 Chevy pickup oncoming, so I am sitting there waiting with my turn signal on. There is a Mack dump truck coming up on my tail, and really hauling,I pumped my brakes a few times, and flicked on/off my turn signal really fast to get his attention, we are in construction, so I know from listening, that he never saw me. I never heard him downshift, and no air brakes..He started to brake about 15 feet from the back end of my car. Last thought that went thru my head was "this is gonna hurt"
He hit me, spun me around into oncoming, and the Chevy pickup hit me in the front right corner panel.
My puppy went flying about 300 yards into the soybean field, my birds hit the road, two of them died instantly. My egg box is gone, I know I saw it in the middle of the road, but nobody seems to know where it went.
Summer has a broken hip, and she is going in for surgery on Monday.
I have a cracked rib, and more bruises than I really want to look at.
My car is beyond totaled, but after looking at the pictures my neighbor got on her phone, I am really glad just to be a part of the living.
The dump truck driver is fine, although he is going to need a new bumper, and his hood is messed up.The Chevy driver was taken to the hospital before me, they told me she was fine, but I heard she broke her sternum..
