Just rescued a poult and need help

She is growing like a weed now! Thank goodness or didn't die. I put it on antibiotics for four days and its doing great. It still likes an egg/mealworms/ baby pear and turkey mash mashed with warm water. Lol. It certainly is spoiled. I also give it the turkey crumbles dry.
It is three weeks one day today. Is it ok to take it outside now? I don't want it to get sick again. Thanks.

Glad to hear that it is doing better. Are you wanting it to go outside, run around in the yard? If so, I would be hesitant on taking it outside right now. In my opinion, it's still too early after this incident of not feeling well. Give it more time to build up an immune system, so that it will be able to fight off those diseases that are waiting for her out in the mean, cold world. Glad you asked the question before letting it go outside.

Thank you for your speedy reply. I don't know if it makes a difference or not, but was just wanting to take it out in my backyard for an hour or two durning the day to get some sunshine and grass. I don't have my other birds there.

On a different subject~~~ this little one has a small bump on the top of its nose. Dies this give any idea as to what it could be?

Thanks

With the warmer months here and slowly approaching in other areas comes with that worms. Other birds visiting your backyard will leave presents of droppings that could be infected and carry worms that have cecal eggs. You don't want your bird to pick up that. It's system most likely won't be able to handle that and will die.

A bump on it's nose/beak or head?

This is going to sound crazy and don't yell at me when I ask. Could that bump be a "snood"? Could that be the sign that it's a male?

Yes, I do de-worm my turkeys. A lot of people worm before they are put on the ground or 3 months old. Safeguard is good. 3 cc per gal of water. I have never de-wormed any of my poults. I do not have a worming problem at my place.

Ivomec pour on - 1/2 cc on the base of the neck in the back for chicks. Adults get 1cc in the same place.

Adults are de-wormed 3 times a year.

There are so many de-wormers that you can use.
