Just rescued some more Battery Hens *pics*

Ex batts first day out! I have never seen new girls so confident, they just joined in with what ever the old ones were doing. One of the girls got into a fight with my 7 year old ex batt Ginger! And one who has never laid an egg whilst being with me go into the nest box and covered her self with straw and laid a egg so she must like he new surroundings.

Let me ask another question...how did you get them? Do the farmers give them up and people sign up to take them or some other way?

I usually just ring up the farm ask if I could have some once they are ready to go and ask when they are ready to go then arrange a day to collect. But this time I got them for a chicken rescue, there are usually a few chicken rescues about that rehome battery hens.

I notice you don't quarantine, do you not worry about bringing in disease with battery hens?

They are vaccinated when they are born, so no I don't. I have never had any problems with diseases or anything and have rescued over 50...

Good for you! Love these pics. I have just taken on two ex barn hens and they have come on leaps and bounds in just 2 weeks...my thread is on here somewhere lol! My profile pic is one of mine ..top pic is day 1 and bottom one is just 2 weeks later. Totally love them! Everything is a big adventure. Did you get yours through the welfare trust or just a local rescue? This is just a start for me I reckon, I would definitely take on more

Thanks! I usually just get them straight from the farm but this time I got them from a rescue. It wasn't local but also wasn't far away and was worth the journey. If you can, please post a link to your thread, I would love to see it!
