The little farm, northern Ohio
So, I went outside to get eggs and give my girls grapes. They have had them loads of times, they love them! Anyways, I fed them the grapes and gathered the eggs. Then I notice one of my girls(Aviva) bobbing her head with her beak open. I tried to grab her but she has always been flighty. So I ran inside, yelled for my 8 year old son and ran back to the coop. He helped me corral her into the coop where I was able to grab her off the perch. I held her down onto the ground and pulled a 2 inch chunk of grape out of her throat! Moral of the story, from now on, I will be cutting their grapes into smaller pieces. Never even thought that chickens could choke...

So glad you noticed and were able to save her.

I've had a situation where I've had to save a chicken, but it was all thanks to one of my other girls.

I heard one of my hens clucking really loudly and came over to see what the problem was. I was going to ignore her but I went over anyway. I was so glad I did. I came over and saw one of my other hens trapped inside a plastic bag! I don't know why it was there but she found it and climbed into it only to get stuck and nearly suffocate. I quickly dealt with the problem and made sure there were no other rogue plastic bags. Luckily, I came when I did or I may have found a dead chook. Moral or my story, if one of my hens is clucking and seems distressed, I always go over and count the chooks.

Wow! I'm the same way. If they sound alarmed, there is a good reason for it. I always go check on it.

Thanks all! I'm glad I was able to save her too! I did have a cockatiel quite a few years ago that choked and died. So I knew birds could choke, but for some reason, it never occured to me to cut up the chicken's grapes!
