Just saying hi

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I've had chickens or well been around chickens since I was 6 years old.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
45..ish I'm not really sure but I do have 66 eggs (Silkie of mixed colors, Buff polish, copper marans, and olive eggers.) in the incubator right now 🫣

(3) What breeds do you have?
Copper Maran, Cuckoo Maran, Maran Olive Eggers, Americaunas, Calico Princesses, ISA Red, Smokey Blue Pearl, Buff Orpingtons, and a singular hen of the following varieties easter egger, polish mixed with something?, barred rock, barred rock mix, americauna polish mix, and a americauna mixed with some red variety of laying hen not quite sure.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Watching them forage and seeing all the fun egg colors we get in our nest boxes each day. Oh and hatching babies and seeing what comes out.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening, reading, rabbit genetics, and listening to music.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
So other than chickens I have pedigreed Rex rabbits that I will be taking to shows this summer, guinea pigs, dairy goats, a barn cat, two livestock guardian dogs, and one really old really spoiled rescue labradoodle. I really want to get into turkeys and have been looking for Narraganset or Sweetgrass turkey eggs (or any other heritage, motherly turkey). I'm also going to be getting back into ducks soon as a friend will be giving me some Khaki Campbell hatching eggs. I also want to get back into white chinese geese, and jumbo coturnix quail. And one day when I have my big barn built ill get cows and mammoth donkeys.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
I've known about BYC for years but never had the courage to join, now that im getting more serious about chickens I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to finally join.

66 eggs? Lord, you are going to be busy!

Welcome to the coop! I use the Forums and Articles tabs at the top of the page to do research. You can get lost for hours. It's nice to know you are minutes away from getting help with questions and emergencies! I always check in the "What's New" section as well at the top of this page. This way I can read how I may have a similar question or help give some advice.
