I just set 72 eggs in a little giant that I just got a few days ago. Very touchy. Im so used to using the hovabators but my other 2 are full with cuckoo marans and splash marans

Good look with the LG. I have been in what I call LG Hell for 18 days. Too many temp fluxuations. Dips, Spikes, Oh my!!! I started with 26 eggs and only 6 left. I bought a Brinsea.

Oh man so sorry to hear that!

You have anything in the brinsea yet? Im seriously thinking of building my own cabinet bator. Just dont have the guts yet.

I do have 2 dozen in my new Brinsea right now! BLRW and Silkie/Frizzle mixes. I love it. I have a hovabator too and I dont think its any better than the LG. I stand there ad ti will say 100.4 and withing 5 mins it will climb to 101.8....I am suppose to be swtiching 23 eggs over to it tomorrow evening but have spent 1-2 days trying ti adjust the temps just like the LG. I have a older model. I think its a 1602 or something.

Hmmm I usually run my temps at 102. Anything higher and I worry. I think my hovas are 1602N.

Yep thats what mine are. Let me ask you a question? When the red light is on does your tep go up and then the light goes off does your temp drop? I am just wondering because I have found a sweet spot. It will drop to 100 and go up to 101.8 then go back down. Is this typical of the Hovabator? I have never used one before.

I noticed that the red light goes on when the temp drops like .5 then stops when it gets back to 102. It doesnt drop when it stops heating. Maybe thats becausewe had our house insulated a few years ago and the temp pretty much stays the same in my room.

That room has been 65 degrees all night long. So its not the room.

Hmm thats weird. How old is it?

ETA: Do you have the vent plugs in?

I tried it with the vent plugs out and now with them in. Lord only knows how old it is....Maybe 10 years? My father in law used it to hatch out turkey eggs but there is nothing wrong with it and its in excellent condition.
