Just set up my home done fishtank incubator. Suggestions?

If you've done it for more than a few months, then it wasn't from me!

I know I came up with it independently, but I'm sure it's not an original idea, if you get the difference!

I just wanted to rock a carton back and forth, and had lots of PVC laying around from my coop construction, and so did it. And immediately started posting the pictures all over BYC, because it worked so well.

try an r zilla temperature contoller it will raise and lower the temp of the bulbs to get to 100 degrees.

I was considering this but my local Petsmart does not carry them, so it would take to long to get here w/ shipping. Also what a Hot Water Thermostat does is exactly the same thing. R Zilla's are just external and require no wiring. You guys have made me pretty confident I can rewire a HWT myself and pay 3 times less. But for someone who is REALLY scared about rewiring anything R Zillas are the perfect solution! The added bonus that they cut power completely for really high temp raises is a good thing and a bad thing guess. If you were to have a high temp spike for a second and then normalization, they wouldn't turn back on.

Hovabator has been set up and is stabilizing, I am still trying to tweak the larger fish tank.

I've read several times where people have wished they had done a trial run on their new incubators using cheap grocery store eggs. Might want to spend a couple bucks and check things out before the real eggs arrive.

Looks like I'm stable in the Hova for 99degrees and 64% humidity (been raining a little here though) I'll check tomorrow and see if the ambient room temp is changing.

I'm going to be using a water weasle to do some tests, but I do have some home grown eggs from my gals on hand if I need to run a real test I guess.

For the wiring, I made a diagram that's easy to understand if you're more visual. Sounds like you've got it under control though.

I think....I have made a mess. But I'm getting ready to plug in the lights with the HWT wired in. Wish me luck. If you don't hear from me in awhile, bring marshmallows!!
