I had a seed swapping party in January to get over the Christmas blahs.

It was great fun. All day open house, friends and neighbors brought extra or leftover seeds from the year before and got seeds they wanted. We also traded/shared our best seed catalogs and recipes. I ended up with more seeds then I know what to do with, but still need to buy just a few more

wow !! 1 Potato Yukon Gold - 2.5 lb. bag $14.50
Potato - All Blue 1 Pack (10 tubers) 1 $18.95

that is a lot of money for spuds..we are a working potatoe farm here, at one time we were up to 200 arces..now we just plant the land around the farm witch is abought 30 arces of potatoes..and abought 15 arces of sun flowers, and a hand full of green houses.

have you ever tryed just buying a bag of yukons from the store and planting them??same with the all-blue.. another one to try is a french fingerling, or any of the red potatoes??

correct me if im wrong, but what you buy at the store is a 2nd Generation potatoe, witch will still grow. so the potatoes you plant and dig up will be 3rd Generation. witch should be fine.you will still get the same yield out of them.

do you have any potatoe farms around you??? you must your in PA???

At our Garden Center:
potatoes buy the pound (kennebek, yukon gold, lassoda) .59
onion bunches (average 80 per) 1.29
seeds (2-4 ounces=about 6 seed pks or more depending on the seed) most are sold at .79, highest price is 1.39 for 2 ounces

The problem is the local walmart carries only limited seeds and last year no seed potatoes, and for buying potatoes I'm positive that none of the local stores carry blue ones and are very limited otherwise (only 1 or 2 maybe 3 different ones).

Yes I'm in PA but I'm not aware of any potato farms around.
