My grandson and I are just starting out with two month old chicks from our local feed mill. I have raised chicks in Pa. before, but need some help in Florida. Is there anything special I should know. Are they old enough to be kept outside? I have a coverd chicken pen and a barrell for them to sleep in, so far. Any suggestions.

Hi! Where are you in Florida? I'm in St.Pete. I just started, too.
The suggestions I got are:
Keep your coop nice an open, made almost entirely of wire, with a covered area for sleeping.
Put a little "swimming pool" out for them when it is supper hot.
Watch out for hawks (gators if you are near the water).
Don't let your food get too moist with the humidity or it will mold.
Mine are outside at two months, and seem just fine after the first night of paniced chirping.

Welcome to this wonderful site! I hope you find it as useful and entertaining as I do. If you have any questions feel free to PM me anytime.
