Just beginning in the chicken raising arena, looking into building my DIY 4'X8' chicken coop with a run for 3 chickens. I am at home in Delta, Colorado and watching 2 grandchildren during the next couple of weeks (coronavirus panic), and thought this would be a great life skills project for me to do with the grandkids? We have just rowed and tilled our 25' X 30' garden, and started our seedlings for the garden. I have been told by experienced chicken raisers not to put chickens into the garden due to them eating anything and everything? We are planning for only 3 hens and purchasing laying feed grain form Walmart? I was interested in the 4' X 4'with the 4' X 8' separate run, and even possibly making it mobile with added tires? Also I would like to add an aluminum floor that is removable for easy cleaning?
I appreciate any and all questions, concerns and or clarifications to help us on this process. Anxious to get started.

Good afternoon and welcome to BYC! Aluminum could get quite hot. Removeable floor is a great idea, perhaps linoleum over lightweight board? I live at the home of Walmart and could not recommend the food I see them carry. Recommend you search for a nearby farm store for quality food for your chickens.
