Just starting out

I am just starting out and am already enjoying my two girls. I have 8 more girls arriving in June. So far I have a brooding pen we just built, but am wondering what size coop and run I will need for 10 hens.

You wont stop at ten its chicken Math if you say ten you will be lucky if you can stop at 20 lol .. General rule is 4 square feet per hen .. they can share boxes but need space or you will have issues .. a 6'x8 ' coop will allow you 12 hens Have Fun if I were you I would go 6x10 now ... to allow for 15 Its Basic Chicken Math lol ! We multiply funny ..

And the bigger the run the happier the hen and richer the eggs as they can get more rich bugs and dig dirt patches to roll in and keep mites off etc..

At least 4 ft sq per hen, but don't be afraid to make the coop bigger. It'll come in handy when you want to get more chickens.

Hi and from Ohio. So glad you joined. Also, use screws instead of nails, much easier to take apart and make bigger when the need arises.
