since my bator turner will hold up to 41 chicken eggs and we only have 19 in it, would it be better for the eggs to be scattered with some openings in between each egg or should I leave them side by side on one side of the bator?

I had the same question - My first two batches (I'm an addict now - I have at least 1 more planned after my third) were all together in egg cartons. This last batch I only had 14 eggs to set so I spaced them way out. I cut the cartons down to 2 egg holders & have them all over the bator. I'm hoping this makes escape from the eggs a little easier. My last batch had one in the center row of an 18 carton get stuck in her egg. The ones on the edge tend to fall out.
