i posted this morning about my 4 day old chick not eating or opening eyes.. day by day i could see her getting more tired and just standing there..i could hear her chirrping loudy so i would pick her up and hold her and try to get her to eat and drink.... but she wouldn't open her eyes.. so i asked for help today and no one replied so i saw an article in here about using brewed tea for eye problems.. i figured she could not see the water or the food.. so i brewed a strong cup of tea and swabbed her eyes.. boy did she scream.. either she hated it or maybe it stung? but after i set her back down about 10 min later she was opening her eyes somewhat and i could see she saw dark chicks run by her. her head would follow the shadows... it has been about 2 hours so i swabbed them again with the the strong brewed tea and her eyes are now open and she actually walked to the water dish and drank.. she is actually looking around now too.. she is still very small.. the runt i guess. but the tea seems to have helped alot with her vision.. only time will tell if she starts to eat by herself but if you put egg yolk and all the others start eating she hops in and will eat too.. wish me luck with her.. she is a puffy cheeked easter egger and adorable..think her name will be itsy because she is sooo small. her eyes were never gunky or swollen she just kept them closed.. the first two days she ran and ate with everyone so figured it must be her eyes. pardon the sticky fuzz she just had lunch, vitamins, yogurt, egg yolk and some chick feed

Good luck with her. She's lovely. I'm glad you found the post about tea. Sorry no response on your first post. Hope all continues well. Keep us updated on her progress.

That's cool! I would also suggest since she is so small that you might want to try to get some extra nutrients down her - is she eating? Do you have any chicken vitamins or Poly-Vi-Sol? Make sure she gets an extra boost since she has been not eating for a few days. Good luck, and good job!

she has been doing great .. she lives on nutridrench mixed in their water and for her i boil egg yolk, yogurt, some nutridrench water and chick starter into a mash and she inhales it.. she is doing very well even if the smallest in the bunch.. she is 7 days old today.. the others are bigger and are eating the chick starter.. i see her pecking but not really eating it yet.. hopefully when a little bigger she will eat it.. as you can see her eyes are no longer shut. yeaaa for brewed tea. it worked great for her infection
