I thought since I snuck in the back door of the forums, I'd take a minute and say hi! A little about us, my husband Jim and I live in the greatest state in the USA, Alaska! We are owned by two bullmastiffs, two Brussel Griffons, a few flemish giants and along with a flock of 8 ladies and one rooster. The 4 barred rock are newbies, just waiting their turn to be introduced to the bigger guys. I have no idea what my other girls are. (if anyone has idea's I'd love to hear them!) . We are very new to the chicken world and just love this forum. Thanks for allowing us to join you!

oops the one of the girls is really small, I'll try this again....the black one on the right has gold feathering down her neck. The black one lower left is all black with a green sheen to her feathers. The dark red one, has a bum leg. We arent sure whats wrong with her, but shes acting fine, just isnt laying yet.

Wow! you have me all figured out! lol.....Im addicted!

Welcome to the BYC!

Your rooster and the one or one that are the same color as him are Buff Orpingtons, the "dark red" one looks like a Rhode Island Red. Not sure what the others are.

Again, welcome to BYC!

The black with gold might be golden laced wyandotte, not sure though from that rear view

The black, is that a black australorp? Good lucking flock and welcome to BYC!

Yeah, it's a black sexlink. Looks just like all of mine. I'd say buff orps on the roo and the other, RIR for the red and Black Australorp for the black one.

Cool! Thank you everyone! I do know the two black ones sure keep me in eggs. The buff just started laying. Im not sure if the RR will ever lay with that leg, but we'll give her some time. We just lost her sister a couple of days ago, thats still all up in the air. The census so far has been she had something going on that we couldn't have helped.

I'm slowly letting the little guys mingle. Supervised of course, Those two black hens love to chase and peck at them. So I make sure I let those two girls know who's boss. Mom pecks back! (grin) They arent quite big enough to leave them but they are getting there. I just hope Im doing the introduction right!

OMG! I think one of my chickens is part turkey! I just checked for eggs and found these two eggs. The one on the right is a large egg and is what I have been seeing for a few weeks now. WOW! I havent seen an egg this size. Not out of these girls, maybe the RR is laying?
