I called the Board of Health in my town and did all I had to do so I can have chickens. A neighbor close to me had just gotten chicks from Agway raised them til old enough to go outside and had them in a rabbit hutch in his yard. After getting my permit I was searcing where to get my birds, another neighbor told me he was looking to get rid of his because his girlfriends daughter didn't want them anymore because they weren;t cute little chicks anymore.
So I gladly took three hens off his hands. I have a fenced in yard with gardens and a koi pond.My girls are out when I am home and never leave my yard. Now for my vent........his three chickens are all over the place, in the road, train station parking lot (right behind us) , other peoples yard, picking in the trash. My neighbors keep coming over asking if my chickens are out, I thank them but tell them my chickens don't go out of the yard. I feel so bad for these birds!! Now mind you, this guy came over to see where the chicken were going to be kept because he wanted to make sure they were going to a good home......really?? I am waiting for the Board of Health or the ASPCA to come knocking at my door when someone complains, because I am on file for having chickens. I am thinking he probably never got a permit. The good news is my next door neighbor is going to take them next weekend. People like this is the reason towns do not allow chickens!! Makes me so mad, wish I had a bigger coop, I would have taken all 6!!!! He now has a quial that he "found" locked up in that rabbit hutch, poor thing!! His girlfriends daughter now wants ducks, so they are coming next!! Way to teach a kid about taking care of animals, don't want it get rid of it and get something else!! I think they should get rid of the kid and get something else......just saying!!
