Just Want to Help

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
This is the "sweet" baby in my bathtub!!! He obviously doesn't remember!!!
Welcome to buc. I dont remove spurs but have thought about doing it because my roos fight each other, sometimes to near death if i don't intervene.
It's easy to do and saves wear and tear on the hens' backs!

:welcome :ya:yesss: Hello and welcome to BYC. You found an Amazing Poultry Community to be a part of with many knowledgeable members who are willing to help you along your journey with any questions you may have. Enjoy :)

Sorry to hear you have an aggressive Roo, we too had that same issue and I was tired of him coming at me every morning with his hackles raised and spurs in the air.

Chewy (RIP) was a young cockerel rescue when we got him and he was a very fun and loving little guy to handle, but when those hormones kicked in he changed overnight and was not the same since.

So after several months of waiting and hoping Chewy would calm down a bit, he never did and went off to freezer camp. His replacement Kung Pao has turned out to be a very docile rooster so far and very enjoyable to be around him with his girls, unlike Chewy.

I understand you are not going to eat your rooster and you have grown very attached to him. Trust me on this, it's so much nicer and less stressful having a docile rooster in your flock over one you can't take your eyes off because he can't be trusted.

Best of luck with your rooster. :)
