Just went into lockdown !!

Just went into lockdown at day 14. The eggs have been moving for a day or two. I am using a Brisnea mini advance. And all 12 of my eggs were moving, so this bator got me live eggs so far. I just hope I get a good hatch. I will keep updated, on my progress. Also filled both pots with water per instructions. Dave

I've found quail to be nearly fool proof to hatch out. Out of all the birds I've hatched quail are the easiest, now if I could just get them to not drop like flies in the first week I'd be set. I hatched out nearly 30 and only about 10 survived.

Wow I hope I don't have a big die off. Going to pick up my feed today. Purina gamebird starter, is what my local store has.

I guess they're out by now.. but thought I'd throw this in there-- these birds have no brain and sleep everywhere. They pass out in the water and drown themselves, even if it's 2 mm in depth. Watch for this... do the marble trick, whatever it takes.

I get the special quail waterers from TS. They are small enough they can't drown themselves.

Thanks for the help! 11 have piped this afternoon. Now comes the wait for them to try to come out of the shell. All my kids had to have a peek at the eggs. Good thing I have one with a clear top.

Also they piped on day 16 Glad I had the advice to go into lockdown from some of the members, a day early.
