Packed in there like sardines, but in my experience quail will hatch no matter what you do to potentially screw it up.

Candled them last night. Out of 36, there were about a half dozen that were questionable (too dark to see). The rest were doing well!

That looks like a pretty cool 'bator set up you have! Good luck!

Hopefully it works! It took only a few minutes to put together, and was very cheap to do so, so if I get a successful hatch, I will be a very happy woman!

wew, nice bator, hmm, sand, i use a rock/stone here. doing same way.

by the way cherlyn, what is that ring with colorful inside? water jar?

Those rings are leg rings for big chickens.

I cannot find my marbles (LOL!!!), so I am using these instead, so the quail do not drown themselves once they hatch.

The rings are laying flat, and weigh a bit more than the newborn quail, so they will be fine. There are also a few marbles in some of the rings. Good eye, though, Mulia!

Just wanted to wish you luck! Mine started hatching sometime last night, 3 have hatched, 31 to go.

My homemade 'bator is doing the job so far! Starting day 2 of lock-down and humidity is holding steady around 70% and temps are steady at 100F. Yay!
