Ever since the girls went into the coop last week they just aren't interested in hanging out with mom anymore. They won't sit in my lap and if I pick them up they jump away. Until yesterday when they experienced their first thunderstorm. When I went in to check on them afterward (it was right at their bed time) they were jumping all over me - my shoulders, my lap, my arms. They were giving me those concerned little chicken noises when they're scared. I talked to them all, calmed them down, and off they toddled up the ramp to bed. They're just like toddlers - all independent until they need their momma.
My husband just cracked up, not realizing chickens could act that way.
