He was probably eating all the extra food, because he had nothing else to do. Dump food on his head and he just eats his way out and waits for tomorrow's manna. 8 weeks later, you would have had a tube-shaped chicken. Perfect for roasting evenly and making lunch meat slices.

No- I think she was just really full and totally freaked out! She was a black sex link- so she laid every day anyway. Must have been an early layer and I let her out later the next morning- but it suprised the heck out of me! She was my best snake-eater too.
