enough to try them outside? I have read 7 weeks and also up to 12 weeks ? I have time yet, mine are barely over a week old but want to plan ahead...Thanks in advance..

The number I have read most often is six weeks. Don't know if its really true. My turkeys are allowed into a screen porch attached to the brooder at 3 to 4 weeks depending on the weather, and I give 'em the boot to the fenced range at 6 weeks.

Ok...so Steve...I have had them for almost 2 weeks...when are they fully feathered? Also, I have heard a few "dry" sneezes...they have never been outside but I do have quite a few ducklings/chicks that go in and out right now but are in different brooders. They are all eating and drinking...no discharges from anywhere..what should I have on hand for any problems? Thanks in advance for the suggestions..

Sulmet is the best for cocci that I have found and what we keep on hand.

Steve

Ok...sulmet..will do!

No,you don't sound like a broken record. You sound like you're stressing a crucial fact.I will definitely keep it in mind. After how much it's costing me to start with these guys,I would hate to lose them from something like that! I think the biggest worry I have is figuring out if blackhead is an issue here. Can you tell me what the symptoms would be? Or how long after they go out would it tend to show up?
So far, they are two weeks old today, and none of the 19 are lost

I'm hoping to be able to raise all successfully to maturity. We plan on keeping 8..2 Toms (because you had suggested that to me a while back) and 6 hens.I hope those numbers will be healthy enough.I know with my chickens,I made the mistake of keeping too many roos a bit too long, and some of my hens are a mess right now until they molt.I hope this won't be a problem with 6 hens and 2 Toms.
I will probably be trying to pick your brains for a while because this is so different than the chickens and ducks.I appreciate your help.
One more question....my brooder is 8 foot long by 3 foot wide by 2 foot high. How long can they be in this without crowding?(19)Do you think they will be able to be in it for the entire brooding period?I should mention again they are BR,BS,and Narr.No BB's.
Thanks
