DH is retired Navy, after 20 yrs. It is nice not to have to move again! Speckledhen is right about the medical care though. It sounds better than it actually is. A lot of places here are not providers either.

I retired from the Air Force after 24 years, husband did 20. Son is now in the Army National Guard.
Am very happy not to be moving every three or four years.

Was raised Navy, married Navy, my sister is recently retired Navy and her husband is still in. See a watery trend??

DH is active, just a couple of years from retirement.
My hubby is retired Air Force, he got out in 99. He holds a civilian job, but of course is currently on Short Term Disability due to his recent Heart Attack. We live pretty meagerly, and own everything we have. Luckily he has good insurance from his job.

So I spent four years on the rock (Guam) and they moved me to Minot AFB, ND. And here I remain... So even though I retired in '05, I haven't moved since we moved off base in '93. That worked out great for me, but I have known a lot of people who couldn't stand to be in one place for more than 2 years. There are actually people who LIKE to move a lot. Yeah, I got that (traveling bug) out of my system years ago. I flew Aerovac out of the PI in the 80's. Spent LOTs of time in Guam, it was my second home. Now I'm a homebody.
