Just wondering how chicken auctions work

I’m relatively new to keeping chickens, and am going to my first chicken auction tomorrow to find a couple of new additions to my flock (hopefully Marans). It may sound like a silly question, but how exactly do they work (in the uk anyway), do I need cages and how much would I be looking to spend on 2 or 3 young hens. Do they bring the birds into a central pen to be auctioned like horses (I assume not), and how many chickens are usually sold together?
This may all seem pointless, but I just want a heads up if what to expect.
thanks

Hey there have you asked others in UK how theirs go ?
Welcome to BYC
Thanks for responding both of you.
believe it or not, I got there to find it wasn’t on that day! I’ll have to wait until this Sunday now.🤦‍♀️
I’be done a bit of research and talked to a friend who was also going, and I think I get the idea now, but am still looking forward to going.
Thanks again.
