Depends, each hen has their own cycle anywhere between about 24 and 36 hours.

They cycle... each day is later than the last till they skip a day and start early again

Mine lay between early morning hours till around 3 in the afternoon!!

Most of mine are late morning layers, by 11:00 or so. But I have one who lays late afternoon. I'd say 5:00 PM is the latest I've collected an egg.

My girls lay at different times of the day. I have a RIR who lays around 4:30 most days... IF you want to catch them in the 'act', go out a few times a day...IF you see one on the nest and have time, sit outside the coop until she comes out, then check the nest boxes.. This is how I found out who was laying what color/shaped egg.. I have gotten pretty good @ knowing who laid what eggs!! Each breed has a different color egg and each girl has her own special shape/size or shade! Every once in a while, it will change color but most of the time the shape and size are the same..
