JustRambling About My Chicken Journey

I love chocolate monsters!
What's his name?
She's a girl, her name is Kalia (pronounced Kah-LEE-ya) She's 5yrs. old and is wondering what these things are doing in "her" yard. LOL! It will take some time, but she's already getting a little less excitable about them. At first, she kept begging like she had to go to the bathroom, even though she was just taken out. We quickly realized, she only wanted to go out to see the chickens. :lau

So, I've already posted pictures of Henrietta. She is a Dark Brahma breed. She likes to hide and wasn't thrilled when I opened the nest box looking for her so I could show her to a visiting friend who also has chickens.

Eventually she will come to love me as the giver of delicious treats!

So now meet Maxine. She is a Black sex-link, and the youngest of the 3 chickens. She seems to be a little less on the shy side when we go out to visit her. I think once they get to know us better and realize we are the source of yummy treats, then they will be a little less shy. My husband and my oldest son wanted to name her Pita, but I don't want to. I told them hens are like little old ladies, so I would like a name that fits that. I really love Maxine, the sarcastic, humorous lady in the comic strips, so this is the name I have chosen for her. But don't you think she's pretty? I love all the iridescent coloring she has!

The next couple of pictures shows the other 2 chickens in the background.

Tomorrow I will try to get some pictures of the 3rd chicken and make an introduction. I'm looking forward to really learning their personalities.

I love this name.
Keep a close eye on her.
Dogs love fresh chicken meat.

@KikisGirls She is never out in the yard without being on leash with one of us, because our yard is not fenced, and she doesn't stay in our yard otherwise. LOL! She gets her running time when we visit friends who have a fence.
Good. I don't like reading posts about how someone's dog accidentally ate their chicken.
;)

How are you girls doing?
Did you get an egg today?

The girls seem to be doing fine. They seem to be settling in pretty well. We average about 1 egg a day, sometimes 2 but usually one right now. I'm thinking the stress of moving to a new place, even though this is their coop, probably has slowed production for now. Thanks for asking. :)

One or two eggs is good.
They will get used to their new place soon!

Last but not least, Meet Bugs. She was named by her previous owners. She is about 7yrs. old, and the oldest of the chickens. She no longer lays eggs, but we were told that she is the leader of the flock. She is a Leghorn. She's not sure whether she can trust us yet. Henrietta tends to follow her around, so usually where you find Bugs, you'll find Henrietta.
