K&H brooder

Have a k&H brooder I plugged in a few hours
I dont think it feels hot enough for chicks

You should always use a thermometer when brooding chicks so you don't have to guess.

That's a brooder plate type thing isn't it?
I don't use one so not sure but doesn't seem like a thermometer on the floor underneath it is gonna give an accurate temp.
Idk, someone that uses them can correct that if I'm wrong.
Does it feel warm at all? It shouldn't be like hot like a pan or anything.

How warm to the touch is it? It shouldn't be so hot that you can't leave your hand on it, but consistently and noticeably warm.

A broody hen is warm enough. If the chicks are able to snuggle right up against the brooder, I don't see why it would need to be any hotter than a hen's body is. You don't want the chicks getting burned.
