Kansas Dept of Agriculture Poultry Ban

New York did the same thing three weeks ago with no poultry at any fairs in the State and then last week advised all livestock auctions in the State that no poultry of any kind can be auctioned starting immediately. I checked with State Ag and they said private sales still allowed for the time being. The auction part hurts as always a good place to sell males of all species with feathers. Hopefully they will not make it permanent.

The State of Kansas has banned effective immediately through the end of 2015 all poultry events where flocks are intermingled.

I don't read where we can not make private sales on property, but it sure shoots down my shipping plans.

you should have no problem selling your babies locally , you have a great selection to choose from.

Thank you for that! I have sold quite a few chicks via FaceBook and Craigs List, some eggs too, but I have gone through a lot of time, money, and effort getting certified for NPIP testing, testing my flock and preparing for being able to ship birds across state lines all to be shot down with this ban. Then again, there are quite a few of my special chicks I really want to see feather out. I have finally gotten some chicks out of my Pied WE/ Silver Pied pen, lots of Purple BS, and Cameo mixes. I will post some chick pics soon as we get caught up with the bee work.

I am curious as how this will affect prices. Do they go up as there is a lack of easy availability, or do they go down because it is harder to find buyers?
