Kansas Folks?

What kind of LGD do you have? I've been considering getting one eventually after several scares recently and wondered what other have, what they like about specific breeds etc..

New to the site .. :) Living in the Wichita Area :) I have 10 bantam hens 2 of which are of laying age the others will get there lol and 7 ducks (6 are almost a week old :))

Mine are a cross between Great Pyr and Anatolian. Fabulous dogs. August really watches for hawks. He is a very large dog that appears to sleep a lot. The rooster or guinea alert to flying birds of Prey and Auggie is on his feet in a dead run with his huge bark immediately. He has taught they standard poodle to do the same. She will see a big bird flying while looking out the patio window and goes nuts. I let her out and she is looking up barking while running full speed.
We just don't have issues with coon and coyotes with these dogs. The one failing Auggie has is he likes the neighbors lab and allows her on the farm. She takes eggs and kills chicks.
We hadn't locked up chickens for the past 5 years we've had these dogs until the dog started killing chicks. I try to pick up eggs each evening so the dog doesn't have any.

Wow! That's impressive!!!! I think an LGD would be a good addition to our farm. We have hawks and owls both here as well as coyotes, skunks, raccoons etc.
I've lost quite a number of my favorite kittens to them and now that I have chickens.. Where did you get your LGD? Is he ok with kids/people?

Hello everyone!
I live in near Gardner if you know where that is...
I have three cochin bantams who have been hating these hot days :)
