Ok ....If you want to get THING"S STRAIGHT dorthy's house in Liberal (seaward county) . almost south western corner of kansas!!!, just head about 200 miles west of wichita on hwy 54 , you'll go right past my farm (i'll be the one shinning my ruby red slippers!!)
OZ????? Boaz is asking about going to OZ???? I'm outside all day long in the stifling hot sun and humidity working the fields, crops, livestock, gardening, landscaping, housework, laundry, while hatching chicks, making brooders, building new pens, moving birds to new pens.........the 12 hour days never end......then I get to come inside at 9:00 at night, when it's too dark to see, and start housework. While Boaz can always be found at the p.c. So if he wants his head bashed so he can go to OZ.......I'm more than happy to do the bashing.
There is a barn museum in Lenexa, and lots of old missions scattered throughout the KC area, and salt mine warehouses- a whole underground city...lots of interesting stuff, but lots of the strip malls and big box stores you see everywhere else, too.
I personally think there's a special beauty to our area, despite the lack of breathtaking scenery. It was part of the westward push, so there's a lot of hidden history.
I wouldn't wear the slippers if it meant head thunking.
OZ, what was I thinking? Flying monkeys, fireballs, trees that grab you, and houses flying through the air. Ahh there's no place like home!
There is no place like home; for those that responded concerning the beauty of Kansas - it is almost an apologetic tone. The people east of Kansas would have had a much tougher time with manifest destiny without the resources of Kansas there to sustain them. And beauty has a lot to do with Lasik and beholders, I think.
Daydreaming and relationships; OZ does seem like a great place to visit. There was a such a simple plan to get there and have the Wizard fix everything. Do we not repeat the same scenario on a daily basis only it is usually another set of circumstances that need to coalesce to make our Jello good. Red is the best.
I heard that the Wizard has stopped taking appointments, because his calendar is filled until the year 2095 and he is afraid he will run out of magic too soon. But I hear that the lottery is still accepting donations to their cause.
But if you can talk Ruth into coming this way, the wonderful hill are very awe inspiring, and when I look at them I usually forget my troubles, if only for a short time.
