I was thinking perhaps your chickens could be White Plymouth Rocks, did you consider that as a possibility? They lay brown eggs. It's worth looking into anyway.

Hey Karen, we are ALMOST neighbors! we live in East Concord, NY, about 40 miles south of Buffalo (where we work). Growing vegetables my joy, too - our season starts kind of late here, though, and I am wondering when we will ever get our first ripe tomatoes..... Good to connect with a neighbor!
