Kat’s Journey into Chicken Keeping

Mama had the kids out for a little walk this morning.

Now I have a new (for me) situation. This morning I discovered THIS:

This is one of the 20 week old “pullets” from this year. I didn’t know this was going on because these eggs are in a spot where no one had ever put eggs before.
I tried to take her off the nest and she threw a tantrum! Tried to bite me! I’m waiting for hubs to get home from work, lol.

I want to update the photos of my current flock.
I’ll start with some pics I was able to get of my lavender Easter Eggers. They are very camera shy and it was tough to get these!

I ordered (through a hatchery) and PAID FOR ($$$) Lavender Orpingtons. I got lavender birds, only they are not Orpingtons. They grew up to be Easter Eggers.
Not the first time I received different birds than I ordered, but that usually happens at TSC.

I also ended up with four roosters who were supposed to be pullets!
I rehomed two of them: Harry and Albert. They were very aggressive. They wanted to fight all the time, and they were nasty to the hens!

I still have these two: Archie, and Elvis!

I still need to get more pics of the rest. But a few flock candid shots.
The ducks are growing up!

That hatchery needs to be better at their jobs. I'm glad you were able to rehome two of the boys.
