Katie, 6 weeks until present sorry, photos removed

Sorry you had to remove the photos due to some unpleasant (or worse) people. I know there are many trials in being a responsible breeder when it is a trend nowadays to use the word "breeder" as a negative no matter what the context. I commend you in your exemplary efforts on behalf of the breed you love. The situation has become quite bad here in my city; some of us in our dog training club have made T-shirts with the words: "No my dog is not a rescue, she was planned!"

I came to this thread looking for the pictures of beautiful Katie progressing from puppyhood to adult. I am amazed how she never looked awkward. I am currently raising a Sheltie pup who is from an exciting breeding, parents both champions, grandparents and further back have many ROMs and BISS, tested for just about everything. Yet, at one point there she looked like some scruffy, half-coyote stray - at that point you just hope that what you saw at eight weeks comes back someday! LOL At 7 months, she is starting to come together again and I hope we do well at our first puppy match in a couple weeks. I am a bit jealous that with Katie you never had any doubt - and with good reason, of course!

Although in truth my Sheltie is first a pet, second my up-and-coming agility dog, and only lastly a show dog. Do you have any other plans for Katie other than the breed ring? I know you do carting with one of your boys. Well-rounded dogs of any breed are such a joy, aren't they?

I expect to do quite a bit with Katie. Definitely Rally, CD, CDX. I would love to get her on sheep, and carting is definitely in her future, along with therapy work.

Best of luck with your young one. I have had some nice dogs who went through some very awkward stages.

FB is not the problem. It will die down after a bit, it always does.

We are off to handling class tonight. I spent all day cleaning my van, it is sparkling, my puppy is really dialed in, we are SO ready to go and show our best, win or lose.

I have shown for many years at this particular cluster, and I have never won points there. It is always very competitive. Hoping to shatter that losing streak this coming weekend.

I will report when I return.
