Wow, 50 breeds? How did you source your breeds? I know Ideal Poultry in Texas is NPIP certified and able to ship to Kauai without a problem.

Do you have any Old English Game? I'm looking for a breed that lays alright, but is also broody. I need broody hens to keep a flock of production Rhode Island Reds going. I'd rather a natural mom then an incubator, chicks from natural moms are far healthier.

Some of my chickens is from a variety of hatcheries and some hatche from ship order eggs.

Personally I like to use my bantam hens to hatch out my eggs I have hatched from incubators and from hens and have notice the chicks under the bantams was a lot bigger and healthier right now I'm switching my flock over to red sex links and see how it goes my Rhode Island laying time is coming to an end that's why so hopefully these sexlinks will produce as good and Rhode Islands did

I have hatched chicks under Silkies and Orpingtons, the Orpington was the better mom by far. The silkies were far too broody! They would lay a clutch and go broody, probably four-five times a season.

I have raised Black Sex-Links and they did lay very well. Almost as well as the leghorns I've kept, but they slowed terribly after the first year of lay and then died by the third. My Rhode Island Reds seem to be much more long lived and productive throughout their life.

I like to use my cochin bantams so far the best from my experience by far. As for the Rhode Island reds there not to good in a big flock i don't know why but they seem to be the ones to start all the commotion all the time.

Aloha, I have a broody hen who is determined to raise her own.
If you have fertilized eggs, please share with me what you have now. I only raise egg layers. I have 2 Arucanas, 2 reds, 2 black copper marans and one orphington.
Life is sweet, cept I have a Broody one that wants to hatch some of her own. I have no Roosters here right now

I am a BYC rookie looking for 3 chicks or hens to get started. Anyone here got some for sale or have too many and want to donate a few to a good home? We already have happy dogs and Golden Tilapia in our aquaponic grow bed. Now looking to raise some fresh eggs! Just built a tractor to move around the yard here in Kalaheo. All we need are some egg layers...! Any help would be appreciated.
