Kayla, You should read @Blooie article on MHP. It's not practical for me, but for small hatches it is awesome.

BTW, DW and I loved our Marans. My first batch of chickens, I got 7 Isabella Leghorns and two Marans. Had to get ILs as my granddaughter Isabella was going with me to pick them up. Since ILs are flighty, the BYCer who sold them to me tossed in two young Maran pullets, so the girls could handle them. They were the sweetest birds. If I ever get my flock the way I want and this farm setup the way I'd like. I'll add Maran's just for us. I have two great sources close to me for good stock.

I really hope this takes down the number of threads on here selling/buying poultry and poultry products illegally from this area (as I made a thread previously to call out).
