I had one of those "really?" moments while looking at an egg today.

​

This might sound silly, but my brain was quite perplexed on how small an egg actually is and that a bird is going to come out of it.

Maybe the heat just got to me lol.

I now have a broody Muscovy hen sitting on what I said was going to be the last batch of the year. She has 23 eggs.
They are supposed to hatch sometime around September 10th..... I think.

Will someone PLEASE to tell me NOT to hatch ANYMORE eggs!? I REALLY want to, but I REALLY shouldn't! It's so tempting because I'm getting 2-3 duck eggs every day and it would be SO easy just to go put more duck eggs under a broody hen!
It certainly wouldn't hurt to have more meat birds, but if I hatch them too late they won't grow and develop properly. Before I know it, it's gonna start getting cold again, then they won't grow. That's why I can't hatch anymore right now.

So..... Someone please tell me not to hatch anymore eggs!

Idk if I’ve posted it here yet it not, but I did get Milky's 5 chicks back. There are 2 cochin/silkie cockerels and 3 silkies (2 pullets, 1 Cockerel). I have sooo many extra cockerels that’ll probably stay here over winter because at this point no one wants to add birds into their flocks.
