That’s great!Morning Kayla, doing fine.![]()
I do have a question- how do you manage to feed hundreds of birds? Daily? Are they all in one huge coop? (I’m asking for my uncle... He and his significant other currently have 100 chooks, but they are incubating 200+ more so...) thanks! We feed them twice a day. In the morning when we let them out of their shelters and then about an hour before bed time.
Oh okay! Thanks so much!! I currently have 4 coops also (not needed but I just did it bc of the harsh pecking order of the flock)No. I have four coups and really need to add a couple more. I also need to clear more pasture. In a perfect world, I'd move them to a new paddock frequently. But I need to remove a bunch of trees before I can do that.
You’ll definitely get there! I like what you’re doing now also. My birds haven’t gotten to free range much this week because my neighbors brought home a few more deamons- I mean aggressive dogs. These guys are doing it right. One day I'll get there, but for now I give them a safe place to sleep at night and they wonder the forest and pastures during the day. I plant a mix of pasture grasses and legumes everywhere for them. My meat birds will grow out on my neighbor's lawn as this late in the year a lot of my grass starts to die off. She get's free fertilizer and a few chickens as well as eggs so it's a good trade.
