Kayla’s Hatching Journey!

Pics
Day 3 for eggs 1-6
Day 1 for 1 double yolk egg and 2 white leghorn eggs
And now staggered and double yolker hatching  good thing you have other bators to use as hatchers.

.. and don't always return them to the same spot they were in the turner. I don't think it hurts the egg if your gentle, heck, a hen turns them alot more and at different angles and not particularly gentle when they do it.
Exactly! ...and I make it a point to change the position in bator after candling due to possible hot/cold spots.

So I wasn’t breaking the rules?
Well, @KikisGirls rules can be pretty tough...and, er, different ;)

I never heard of that either, @aart ...I turn my eggs while candling, and don't always return them to the same spot they were in the turner.
I don't think it hurts the egg if your gentle, heck, a hen turns them alot more and at different angles and not particularly gentle when they do it. Main thing is to not keep them out of the incubator too long! I candle at day 7 or 8 then at 14 and at 18 sometimes 21 but I'm candling pheasant and quail eggs not chicken. Most have incubation period of 24 days. Only have a handful of pheasants that have a 21 to 22 day period.
You can't be too careful when handling the eggs.
I say this because I've had a lady send me a candling video where she was basically shaking the eggs up with all the rough twisting and spinning. Not one of her eggs made it.

Okay I attempted to take pics of the spiders on 1 egg, but they’re terrible...
As you can tell ;or maybe not; this is the 1st white leghorn egg. Day 3

Different is right. I am a rule breaker, for sure.
:D
Saying be gentle to one person may mean gentle and the next person may misread the word. When it comes to candling I think it is better to type it out in an extreme way and hope they are at least gentle with the eggs and more aware.

Put your finger over that lighted area on the bottom of the egg. Try to block any light that is not directly on the egg.
Does that make sense?
I'll try to take pics now to explain what I mean.
