Gator sounds like a challenging dog, very much likes doing what he likes. That would frustrate me too. Some days some of my dogs frustrate me too.

My neighbors when I was a kid had a very fat elkhound. She was the friendliest dog. They fed her all their table scraps so she was a chunk. She was a nice dog. Keeshond are very furry. I don't know much about schipperkes except they are long lived and black.

Yup that's him lol but sometimes he's really sweet and cute and before he was sick/not much energy I managed to teach him a decent amount of tricks and get pretty advanced in obedience so he can behave but he gets into everything still. Today he kept drinking out of my water.

Elkhounds are nice dogs too. All the Northern spitz types seem like they are.

And yeah, definitely a lot of fur lol

Lol about all I know too but they are supposed to be pretty smart little things, somewhat stubborn though

I am going to quote from the other thread so I don't have to retype it all lol apologies

(Including Kikis so mine makes sense and I said the same thing there as I did here)

:hugs:hugs
He's old, don't hate him now!

Thanks and yeah I know which is why I'm trying not to hate him/be mad but he's like never had any rules. Every rule I tried to impose was "mean." But he wasn't even truly bad today. Didn't steal the recycling or garbage or anything at least lol but I'm just annoyed because I went through literally 7 glasses today (usually I have two glasses at once so not quite 7 separate times but still and one he didn't drink from but got spit in from the other one) and all I wanted to do was watch TV not refill my water glasses 50 times. Then he stole my chocolate non pareils and is aggressive so couldn't get them back. Did manage to spill water on him and and startle him into tipping the container and dropping 6 so he ate 6 less but still. Tossed a cracker and his back was turned so I probably could have grabbed the container then but I was afraid he would turn back. So he ate them. Thankfully I've also been eating a bunch lol so it wasn't a full container but still a lot. My fault for leaving it within reach and with lid off (spit on lid) but every other time I left, he didn't touch it. Literally the second I left he came in from the hall and took them. Then I let him out and he barked which isn't that bad but still and then he went in the wood slike 10 or 20 feet. He goes up to poop and doesn't like stepping on it so comes back a different way and gets caught on trees. Which also isn't his fault. It's my dad's for making the rope a mile long but still frustrating having to hack through baby pines and get to him. We really need to fence the yard and/or cut down all the baby pines. I also unclipped the rope from the other one and slipped it over a deck post. Still plenty long. Still too long even. Also before the woods he got caught on a table and chairs which should not be in the middle of the yard anyway. But anyway, dad also likes to clip ropes to other ropes. HE DOES NOT NEED IT 20 MILES LONG.

Anyway, none of that is really Gator's fault but all I wanted to do was watch TV.

But I showered and feel better now. And I came down and saw this :love (he looks wayyy cuter in person LOL the flash and his disease make him look ugly but still)

Also this is from last week. He loves his teddy. I can't be mad at him looking at how cute this is. And I played with him tonight, he hasn't wanted to play in a while. So that was cute. And him curled up sleeping now. But the lack of rules and respect for our stuff vs. his is frustrating. Everything is his.

Sorry might have to expand the quote or view in original thread

Here are the pictures at least though so that's easier

Gator is half Pyrenees? They often do as they please since they aren't bred to be with people. They also have to think for themselves and to be protective.

I wouldn't be amused with Gator and his antics either. You have way more patience than I do. Picking the right breed for your next dog is really important so you get a dog that you enjoy more. We used to have coonhounds. They are stubborn pain in the butt dogs too. We had males. I'm not good with male dogs. I don't form a bond with them like I do my females.

Yeah and that is him. He has to think about everything you ask/tell him. And lately he is a pain and acts like he has to go out but then won't. Maybe that's his illness. Idk. But you practically have to drag him outside and/or bribe him. Oh and the water, there is another quote I forgot to quote but basically he likes ultra fresh water and is used to "hunting" for it outside, little cups or puddles/pools of water that collect places he drinks out of despite having a bowl outside and inside, so I think he's just thirsty and hunting for water like he does outside, he gets so confused and kinda hurt when I tell him no. He doesnt get what he's doing wrong. So then I feel bad and sometimes give it to him. But I am going to start saying no or get bottles because it is gross and he is smart enough to know the difference between inside and outside aka you can't drink MY water but you can hunt for it all you want outside. He does stop drinking when I say no though thankfully. But yeah, the not being able to take food back thing is really old but it's not worth getting growled at, snarled at, or possibly bitten so we just let him have it or make it so he can't steal anything. Thankfully he didn't growl or do anything wrong today but he did run away as well as eat them faster. But I also didn't bother truly trying to take it. He does get into the recycling and trash or steal stuffed animals still at 6 1/2. He hasn't learned not everything is his. And I don't blame him, stuffed animals are fun and he is allowed to have some and has pillows but still. Not everything is a toy. And even worse yet my dad is usually like oh just let him have it or he's so cute instead of trying to take it back. They are usually my mom. Some she had planned to send to family, etc. He once stole a Madison stuffed doll. He is definitely annoying. But cute in other ways. I try not to blame him because it is mostly my dad, if he was strictly mine he would have had clear rules from the beginning. But now it's too late. So I'll just try to deal. Breed also plays a part.

But yes, picking the right breed is definitely important. And raising it right. Which I don't think is possible here lol

I like male dogs but females are cool too. In fact, I didn't think I would like females because we've always had males but Libby is so sweet and great and my friend's Goldens are too.

In my experiences males love everyone. Females you have to earn that devotion. Females bond deeper with their owners I believe. Males to me are more sappy. Females can be bitchy. I prefer the attitude.

I have been guilty of getting angry with sick or older dogs. It's pretty normal.

My dogs expect pristine water in the house but outside will drink everything. Drives me batty some days.

That makes sense, males are like woohoo everyone is a friend!/are goofy, females are maybe less like that? Less free with it? Although Libby loves everyone and it also depends on breed orobab because in some breeds males are the protective, less friendly ones lol

Libby doesn't have too much attitude yet but she is so smart and has SASS lol just a week or two ago, she was by the door wanting to play and scratching it and me and FSIL were talking and kept saying no, you were just out, etc. We say no one more time, anyway, she lets out this big sigh. Not even a sigh. More like a grunt. Like a blew air out of her nose thing. As if she was doing that HMPH thing mad girls do lmao sooo funny.

And Luna tried to paw me and bite me today little s*** lol was petting her and she was fine then all of a sudden stop. Females are definitely bitchy lol

Yeah, it's frustrating but I feel bad being mad at a sick dog lol

And Gator and Libby too lol will legit drink out of puddles or pools in tarps that probably have mosquitos or the firepit with the ash lol

Libby sounds like she's expressing her boxer side with the big sigh. :gig They always do big exaggerated exhales of breath. You can ask kikigirls about it. She has boxers too.
