10 out of our 12 turkey eggs hatched sat. My son wants to keep one poult. The others go tonight. Will one be OK by itself!???

With my experience with chickens, I think it would be best for that poult to have a brooder mate. But turkeys might be different than chickens and can be fine by themselves.

I don't think the lil guy will DIE without a buddy, would probably like to have one, but I don't think it will know what it's missing. Turkey's aren't as "flocky" as chickens in my opinion.

Yeah, if the little guy doesn't have a brooder buddy, he'll just cry and cry, constantly looking for any other turkeys... even if you try to bond with him, it still isn't the same as having another turkey. Once they hit maturity, they're usually a little bit better about being alone (or with another species), so there's always the option of having one of them over for dinner... at least that's been my experience, lol.

I hope that helps!

I raised one turkey alone as my first and she was perfectly fine. I got her when she was only about a few days old and raised her in my room. She was always with me and never seemed to long for any other birds. In fact she hated all of the other animals (except for the horses) and was happy as long as she was with me. It all depends on how you raise them, but don't forget that they're very social birds. If you keep just one as a pet be sure to give it lots of love
