I was wondering since it is so hot and I give my 9 month and my 4 month old watermelon and I give my 2 week old watermelon too. If not what can they have to help them stay cool.

Some frozen water bottles for them to lean on when they feel too hot can help. For mine I have taken chopped up small fruits and made pretty much an ice block out of them. They love to pick at it and it keeps them cool. I don’t know what age would B too young for watermelon. I guess a little would be ok

It’s definitely nice to keep them cool but don’t over stress yourself. I overstressed myself the first year I had mine and they started panting. It looks so miserable and I was so worried. But then I realized they panned just like dogs and made 90s is hot for chicken but not hot enough to cost him any harm. But I like To give mine a cool down when I can. I know I like a nice icy treat in the summer time too. Out of curiosity how hot is it in Louisiana right now

Sorry I don’t know why I thought you were from Louisiana. Your weather being from North Carolina is probably a lot like mine

Mine will start painting when it gets over 80° and we usually have about a 2 Month St. where it’s mostly in the mid 90s give or take. Couple days over 100 maybe a couple days in the high 80s if we’re lucky
