Keeping chickens and ducks together

This is our first attempt at raising poultry. My husband and I wanted to keep the ducks in their own pen but our DIL wanted them all together. They get along fine but the chickens are drowning in the duck pond! Does anyone else raise them together without issues?

I keep a few muscovy in my shed with the chickens. They make a mess out of the water, and in winter cause lots of ice to form around the water bucket.

If given the chance I would keep them separately. I haven't had bigger chickens drown. They seem to know enough not to go in the water.

I had a pen ready for three ducks when I unexpectedly rescued five chickens! All I’ve done is split the run in half with low fencing so the ducks don’t get the chickens wet.

You can do this but it takes a little more extra cleaning and etc.I don’t do so my chickens don’t have to deal with constant muddy, and wet sitting water, that also could lend a to potential disease, mine are separated.
