The humane society called me back an the complaint was about the conditions of my animals and the dogs not being liscenced and my rooster. Aprently the nieghbors complained becuse no one can see in the porch to even see the conditions of the pets home,The lady at the humane society was a bit off, she claimed it's ok to have rabbits not meat ones? Like there is a differance. It's a heath hazard to have bantoms in a cage in the porch, also a health hazard to allow them to run the house with diapers, diapers are crule to the chicken, the dog might eat the rabbits and chickens! The lady was crazy I mean the chickens on the porch are the size of pet doves, chickens are an odd pet but a pet. She claimed because we get eggs from them they are not pets! good thing it's the city and not her that could do anything! my rooster crows in early in the morning, when she called the rooster started calling to his girls, she said that it could be a noise issue, my chickens settle is before it gets dark and wake up at 7 30, he crows for 30 mins not constant but he does, which is why he wears diapers and comes in grrr. the good news is a run with out a large shelter is ok by the city, my babies can go outside without getting aten by the nieghbors dogs, bad news is I feel 11 chicks will be too many so I have to sell 5 ,6 large breed might be pushing it but oh well, I will still have 10 chickens:)

Some of the people at the humane society are just downright stupid... not all of them, but some are. I'm not too fond of animal control either.

A couple years ago my mothers dog got attacked by the neighbor dog. Someone called animal control to come out and they got there before my sister & I(mom doesnt drive). We were going to pick Jack(the dog) up to take him to the vet since the neighbor dog had hurt his leg. WELL, animal control refused to wait for us and took jack and they ended up putting him to sleep because of a nerve problem he's had since a puppy(he was hit by a car as a baby and everytime you'd scratch his back he'd flop his butt over, but it never caused pain, we had him all checked out.). all he had was a bite on his leg, it could have been broken but thats completely fixable. So my mother lost her dog that she had raised from a sickly baby...all because they refused wait 15 minutes. And whats even worse is that our vet was like 10 minutes from where she lived!!

I'm done ranting now.

I hope they don't cause a bunch of problems with your animals. we've never had any problems keeping our animals & we've had the county out here a couple times because of the neighbors property.

Are you sure that person was really from the humane society calling you? It seems odd that they would call instead of inspecting your set up. Why would they warn you that they are concerned about your animals welfare? Something doesn't sound right about that.

sorry to hear that.

i hate the shows on tv where they run around acting like they are law enforcement and such...chaps me

file a police report on them

They just visited and said everything was ok, the girls laid eggs while she was there. She asked what I fed them, I told her pellets, she asked my why the hutch doesn't have a lid, it's super tall and we have no preditors on the porch besides makes feeding them easy, she me if I was sure about the rabbits sexes, and what I would do if the porch got to hot, she wrote the dogs liscense number down and left. The people next door keep telling the humane society that the lady only has 3 dogs, the man who lives there doesn't live there and has 2 dogs, well they hid some for sure, they are so not telling the truth! they legally can only have 3 dogs period! they have way more!stupid puppy mill! I Just want to move, poor dh he wants to too but he's stuck because his parents built a addition for him:(

Ack. The way she talked to you on the phone, I wouldnt have let her in my house.

I am glad it worked out okay for you though.

I have abolutely nothing to hide, never even did extra cleaning. She did ask me is I was planning on hatching any eggs, i told her that I really didn't plan to hatch any but if we do we would sell them.

I had an old mare, she was not able to have a lot of weight on her due to weak hips from having babies. I got tired of notes and calls from AC so I hung a sign on the front fence. "The thin mare is 32 years old, she was a broodmare and has had 14 babies. I have bloodwork done on her twice a year, she eats 3 scoops of feed 3 times a day and gets free choice hay. If you do not believe me contact my vet Dr ******* at (Phone Number)" After that everything stopped! My vet said they received one call from AC, verified my information and that the horse was seen by them.

I just wanted to say, My Animal Control guy Greg is a very nice guy. You have to realize ,He/She is just a piece keeper. He/She is trying to appease the neighbors complaint, & allow you to live with in your rites. I do believe yours isn't that good at their job. Maybe you should go above that persons head. To the supervisor......I'm glad I don't have neighbors. You gotta admit, us chicken people mite look a bit different to folks on the other side of the glass. I could just hear it if I did "Honey the neighbor has ducks swimming in his bath tub again.
