Hi Everyone!
I'm new to BYC and I will be getting my birds this spring (3 Americanas and 3 silverlaced wyandotes) Does anyone think I should stay with one breed or will these two birds be okay together?
I also want to get 2 Cyauga ducks. I will be housing them together in one coop however, I am thinking about seperating the duck area from the chicken area as I know the ducks are messy. If I only have 2 ducks should I make one large nesting box or two individual?
I Live in Connecticut and the winters can get pretty cold so I want them to be able to huddle for warmth.
I plan on using straw for the ducks but is there something better?
Also, what are the best feeders/ waterers? I'm thinking of using a wall mounted feeder to help save on floor space.
Any thoughts and or comments would be appreciated.
Thanks very much

one is plenty.

I use straw but know, ducks get water everywhere, and wet straw + wet feed = a horrendous smell. Plan on changing straw often.

ducks must be able to dunk their heads underwater when they drink. It is a part of clearing the beak, and very necessary. I use a bucket for the ducks, and a chicken waterer for the chickens.
Any thoughts and or comments would be appreciated.
