Keeping Kitty Off Counters, Etc.

I have been in a battle with my eldest cat since I got her from the Humane Society. She loves counters and getting sprayed in the face with water does not phase her. I put tinfoil up when I wasnt home to see if that deterred her, came home to her snuggling on the tin foil.

She has taken to lying on my laptop if its up. The other morning I woke up and came to check my email and the *ding* sound of pressing an incorrect key went on for literally two hours because she had sat on the darn thing so long.

I am fighting a losing battle but best wishes to you all.

SHUT THE DOOR

Now this does seem the simplest solution and I would resort to such mundane trickery under normal circumstances.
However, the cat(s) must pass through this room to access their litter box. I dont want that funky thing anywhere else, so we're back to training the cat.

The aluminum foil trick seemed to have worked, last night.

Mine has adopted my laptop and my lap. I just hate when I come back to the computer and the cat has posted a question like this:
sdfjhalksdjfla,mn ,adkjfblk dlfjasldkfnla cvkjdc kljsdf;kamxxc
I'm sorry I don't understand catanesse.

I've had success with using a few pieces of packing tape sticky side up on the surface to be protected. Later I would find hair covered tape pieces in the closet.

Aluminum foil did the trick last night, so Ill keep it in place.

In the long run, I'm quietly hoping it wont work and Ill have to get one of those motion activated blasters. I mean, did you see the video? How much fun is that?!
