i am getting 14 new chix tuesday...yeah!
however, i have 8 hens and will combine the chix when they are 6 weeks or so.
that is too young for the pullets to eat layer feed.

anyone have suggestions on keeping the hens eating their food and pullets eating theirs?

My flock ranges in age from a week to 4 years, or so. Everyone gets grower or flock raiser. Oyster shell and grit are offered separately. No problem with the egg shells.

IMO, your problem is not the feed, it is planning to mix 6 week old chicks with mature chickens. Much safer to keep them where they can see each other but physically separated til all are the same size.

Read here -- just scroll down past the quarantine part (not really needed for chicks you raised:)
