hello! This is the first chicken issue I’ve had... I have no clue what to do or if I even should do anything yet. I have a 12 week old EE, Courtney. . This morning when I went out to check all the little girls I noticed Courtney had one eye closed. I inspected it and she will open the eye but not leave it open. No gunk, smell, or crust is present. Is it possible she could have scratched it? If so what would you recommend.

I will say they have been put in a new coop and they are trying to figure out their pecking order and Courtney seems to be the lowest. Any advice would be great! Thank you!!

With a possible eye injury, I'd put an ophthalmic ointment like Vetericyn Ophthalmic Gel or even Terramycin (an ophthalmic antibiotic) on it to help healing and prevent infection. If the eye's closed, it suggests she's trying to protect it.

Hope she's feeling better soon!

Thank you! Got the vetericyn gel and she’s much better!
