Though most readers on this forum are stricktly into hens,I like the beauty of roosters and would like to keep more, but I have trouble keeping them from fighting with each other when enclosed in a coop. There are too many predaters around my rural home and they like chickens too, so cant free range them.Is there any way this can work? I only have one R.I Red rooster now and he is almost 4yo.I like the beauty of single comb leghorns and would like to keep as many as 6 mixed breeds of roosters.Any ideas or comments are appreciated.

How many hens do you have? I am not sure but they may be fighting over hens. I have 2 roosters with 8 hens. They split up into 2 different groups by themselves and since then we haven't had any fighting

I love the looks of roosters too, but I have only been able to keep two roosters in a pen together at one time, and they grew up together. Now I have 1 rooster in each coop except for my free range flock.

I also have 2 roosters that grew up together, but now are about a year old. They barely tolerate each other and there is much chasing, etc. some days. They have 9 hens to share (I know not enough) with 5 more in the brooder, too young yet. Funny thing, at nite they all roost together like buddies - then in the morning start all over again. I think one of them has to go for everyone's peace and quiet. Note: they both try to mate - One is clearly the alpha roo and when the other one tries to mate, he gets chased away. He keeps sneaking though. Only the alpha rooster crows however.

I agree.

I love having roosters because I love the way that they look. Mine are so big and handsome. Unfortunately, they tear my girl's backs up, so I can't keep many of them. I really hate that. I wish that they could all live in peace and harmony but the girls are stressed out being ran down all day long. If I could "afford" to keep roosters in a run or another enclosure, I would but I can't afford the extra feed.

Try putting them in a separate enclosure and see how that works. Post pic of your handsome boy. We would love to see that handsome fella.

I have two roosters, raised from chicks together, but now don't get along. They share a coop but have a partition down the middle to keep them separate. During the day, they take turns either patrolling the exterior of the pen or staying in the pen. Neither one has direct access to the girls because I don't like bare backs and nervous hens constantly pursued and bothered. Everyone can see and talk to everyone else, though.

It seems to be working out and everyone appears content with the arrangement.
