Keeping Water From Freezing

Welcome! I like to use the microwavable heated pet bed/pad.
They will keep a waterer ten hours and more. I have done -5 for that long under a plastic waterer and it didn't freeze. It was my solution for the small grow out coop that lacked power.
Like this one. I take the material off and put it underneath the waterer base.

Thanks, and that's great! I should try them out for myself since its about below 0!

Some great ideas in this thread so far.

Fortunately I am currently in a position to just change out the waterers a few times a day during our brief taste of this winter crap.

Another couple of ideas for those with and without power around coops.

Bait bubblers. Many different kinds available from alligator clip style 12v (think solar), strait D cell batter powered units or a regular old 120v fish air pump. Pretty cheap and easy enough to try and depending on the setup I think most chickens would get over it soon enough and get on with drinking the water.

Depending on your imagination, the outside temperature (probably not great for -30) and size of the water vessel this kind of thing could be a solution for somebody.
