In the winter, keeping water feeders from freezing is very important, so here are some electricity-free ways.
.) Change waterer to large, black, rubber dish
.) If it's outside and has an open top, try ping pong balls or something else that is light that will circulate the water when the wind blows.
.) Battery-operated plastic swimming fish. The small fish toys are very cheap- set them off in ta closed-top waterer to circulate and slow freezing down.
.) Create a greenhouse effect/ wind stopper for outside waterers.
.) Put hand warmers (shake and activate chemical hand warmers) under the waterer (suggested: put in a non flammable sac/bag/covering) . DO NOT put in the water or somewhere they can be pecked open. They can become very dangerous if pecked open- for both the chickens' safety and the coop/ structure.
