I have 3 five day old ck ducklings and I was wondering when I can begin to show them the outside world in a run of corse and only for a couple hours at a time to show them to forage and such also should I allow them to eat small feeder minnows yet they have already taken to the water Nicely!! Thanks

I start letting ducklings out at a week old on very short grass if it is warm and sunny. They adjust quickly to the grass and like to pick in it. Of course this is in an enclosure completed surround by fence on all sides and the top. I never had experience with minnows but have always fed them lettuce and dandelion greens (I have a yard full of them) for treats. They love both.

Make sure they can get back inside to where their heat lamp so they can keep warm when they need to.

Best of luck and be sure and post photos of your cute little ones!

I took mine out a few times when they were that young and they were fine. I did not leave them out there alone though, I sat with them and watched them closely. As soon as the started acting cold at all, playtime was over, it was never more than an hour. I used it as bonding time and let them climb on me and the kids laps.

It was always on a warm and sunny day.

I never fed them minnows that young. Just lettuce and stuff like that for treats. They loved carrot shavings.

I let mine out in the garden at around ten days old. Depends on the weather. If it's warm and sunny then go for it. Just keep an eye on them. I spent the weekend building their duck house while they foraged around.

As for minnows - mine got their first this weekend, when they were just under three weeks. Took them a few minutes to figure out what to do with them but then they dove in after them.
